Day 11.
The spuds also arrived in my gift box ordered from the Idaho Candy Co. where I received the Old Faithful. The Idaho Spud is a cult favorite in the northwest USA. The name definitely is intriguing. According to the amazing old fashioned wrapper the Spud made Idaho famous. I really hope this bar is wonderful just cause of its look and history.
In the first half of the 1900's many candy bars were named for foods but this is one of the few that is named for a vegetable. So down goes the spud....
Appearance: What a weird looking candy bar. Flaked coconut completely covering a small oval looking chocolate bar in the shape of a small potato. Some coconut had flaked off into the package. After I cut it in half the thick, solid and white creme was even more interesting.
Aroma: Overtones of coconut with minimal chocolate.
Texture: The creme was thick and hard to pull off but when chewed was kinda soft with a not so nice spongy texture.
Flavor: The creme was sweet without much flavor. The coconut chocolate covering had an average milk chocolate taste with mild sweetness.
Calories: 180 cal/package. 1.5oz
Rating: F+
Comments: I love the idea of the Idaho spud. I just didn't think the interior filling was very edible. If you want a good Idaho candy bar go for the Old Faithful!
