Reese's Whipps

The Whipp is a lightly covered peanut butter nougat covered in a thin layer of chocolate. The aroma smells faintly of chocolate but mostly consists of a sweet peanut butter. The texture is light and fluffy. You can definitely taste the peanut butter which is the layer under the chocolate. Overall a good tasting bar similar in texture to a 3 Musketeers bar. Overall a little too sweet and not enough chocolate flavor

Green Bay Puddles

Day 46.
When I was in Green Bay a month ago I picked these up at a cheese shop. Its amazing how much good cheese you can get up there. The deep fried cheese curds are amazing. The Puddles look like Millionaires which are found in Texas.

Cadbury Boost

Day 44.
Cadbury energy bar. I saw the listing when I ordered my latest collection of Cadbury treats. Created in 1985. Similar bar with peanuts is called the Starbar.

Appearance: Chocolate covered dense center of a fudgy appearing center mixed with caramel and biscuit pieces
Aroma: Chocolatey with hints of caramel
Texture: Chewy bar, the inner chocolate is somewhat grainy
Flavor: Delicious milk chocolate I expect from Cadbury with slightly sweet buscuit and sweet caramel

Calories: 305 cal/serving. One bar. 60.5g.

Rating: B (Pretty good for an energy bar)
Comments: Nice chewy mixture of caramel and chocolate. The chocolate was a bit grainy.

Pay Day King Size

Day 33.
I definitely like my Pay Day every two weeks....now the bar on the other hand I remember enjoying these as a kid but not quite as often. I remember lots of salty peanuts on top and caramel once you bit into it. With all the peanuts it resembles an energy bar. A few years ago there was a higher protein energy bar called Pay Day Pro.

History: The Payday bar was first introduced in 1932 by Frank Martoccio of the Martoccio Macaroni Company which later became Hollywood Brands. Later sold to Consolidated Foods Corporation/Sara Lee in 1967. In 1988, Hollywood Brands became part of Leaf, Inc which was then purchased by Hershey Foods Corporation in 1996. (W)


Appearance: Lots of peanuts almost completely surrounding and stuck onto the caramel. The inside is solid.
Aroma: All peanuts
Texture: Chewy caramel and crunchy peanuts
Flavor: Very salty on the outside just like advertised...almost too much but then when you get a taste of the sweet caramel it goes together well. Peanuts fresh and tasty.
Calories: 220 cal/serving. Two servings. 3.4 oz bar.

Rating: B (If your hungry and want peanuts)
Comments: Good tasting combination of sweet caramel and salty crunchy peanuts. Just make sure you eat it fast as the outer peanuts are very salty.

Nestle Sno-Caps

Day 28.
Sno-Caps are another movie theater candy box. These have been around for many years but something about the name just never appealed to me. Sno-Caps are nonpareils. What you may ask is that? According to Wikipedia, Nonpareils or hundreds and thousands, are a decorative confection of tiny sugar balls, traditionally an opaque white but now available in many colors.

Logo: Semi-Sweet Chocolate Nonpareils.
History: Sno-Caps were introduced in the 1920s by the Blumenthal Chocolate Company. Nestlé acquired the brand in 1984. (W)

Appearance: Small chocolate chips covered with tiny white balls. The box contains quite a few nonpareils separated from the chips.
Aroma: Aroma of dark chocolate
Texture: Soft chocolate with crunchy nonpareils. Eat them quick cause they melt in your hands really quick
Flavor: Tastes like semisweet chocolate chips. Dark chocolate taste but with sweetness.
Calories:180/serving. Two Servings of 1/4 cup.

Rating: C+
Comments: Interesting candy. It tastes like chocolate chips used for baking. I wasn't too crazy about the sugar balls. I might try to make chocolate chip cookies with these...maybe the sugar balls will melt and coat the chips.

Cadbury Dairy Milk

Day 26.
The Dairy Milk is the number one chocolate bar in the United Kingdom. Once produced by Cadbury and now by Kraft/Cadbury. Some of my friends from England have always told me how much better the Dairy Milk is compared to the Hershey Bar.

Appearance: Multiple scored bar with nice chocolate sheen
Aroma: Pleasant chocolate aroma not too strong
Texture: Nice snap when bitten. Melts quickly but does not completely coat the mouth
Flavor: Sweet chocolate with a milky flavor
Calories: Two Servings.

Comments: Very nice chocolate only bar. I liked the milky flavor but it was a little sweet. Better than a Hershey bar.

Owyhee Cherry Cocktail

Day 25.
Today I am eating the last of the candy bars from my Idaho Candy Company gift box. I must admit I am not crazy about chocolate covered cherries so my review may be biased but if I like....it must be amazing.

Appearance: Small circular peanut coated chocolate coating which is very thick. Pinkish filling with a cherry in the center.
Aroma: Of peanuts with a slight cherry and chocolate aroma
Texture: Crunchy outside coating with liquid filling
Flavor: Very peanutty chocolate covering with a hint of very sweet cherry flavoring and vanilla mixed in. I think the coating should be made into a candy bar by itself. The cherry filling is very sweet and very strongly cherry tasting...maybe too much so.
Calories: 215 cal/package. 1.5 oz.

Rating: B-
Comments: Mixed together the chocolate and cherries worked well but I still think the cherry filling was too sweet and had too much cherry flavoring. The chocolate coating was very good and full of peanuts.

Nestle Baby Ruth Crisp

Day 21.
I reviewed the Nestle Crunch Crisp a week ago and wasn't too impressed...gave it a C so I am hoping this Baby Ruth meets KitKat works better.

Logo: Baked wafers, Caramel, Peanuts and Creme.


History: Created in 2007 by Nestle.

Appearance: Two chocolate pieces. The peanuts show through the chocolate. Unlike the Crunch crisp the rows of creme and fudge looked good. No greenish tinge. The caramel and peanuts lie on top.
Aroma: Nice peanut aroma with hints of chocolate and caramel.
Texture: Crunchy crisp wafer. Nice chewiness.
Flavor: Combination of peanuts, caramel and a tiny bit of chocolate. This bar contains no cocoa butter, only cocoa. You can taste the original Baby Ruth inside.
Calories: 250 cal/package. 1.76 oz.


Rating: B
Comments: For some reason its works much better with the Baby Ruth rather than the crunch. I would eat this again.

M&M's Premiums Triple Chocolate

Day 18.



Logo: Truly tempting layers of milk chocolate, white chocolate and dark chocolate

Appearance: Slightly larger than Normal M&M's with a duller sheen. When sliced several layers are noted.
Aroma: Darker chocolate
Texture: Not as crunchy initially as M&M's but chocolate becomes smooth and creamy.
Flavor: Dark sweet chocolate.



Calories: 230 cal/package. 1.5 oz. Four servings in the box. Total calories 920.

Hershey's Milk Chocolate with Almonds King Size

Day 6.
Today's treat is the all time classic Hershey's Milk Chocolate Bar. Milton S. Hershey, my candy bar hero, developed this bar in 1894 according to Ray Broekel or 1900 on the company website. Interestingly the bar sold for five cents until 1969. The ingredient list stayed the same until an additional emulsifier was added in 2007 when an additional emulsifier PGPR made from castor bean oil extract was added. (2,4)

Regarding all the recent news about Kraft and their unsolicited offer for Cadbury, I would like for Cadbury to stay independent or to accept a possible offer from Hershey. Just don't think Kraft would mesh well. Losing Peter Paul as an independent company still makes me sad with the loss of the PowerHouse Bar and Caravelle.



Appearance: The same brown color from my youth that I now associate with milk chocolate and small scored rectangular pattern.
Aroma: Sweet chocolate aroma
Texture: Creamy and soft feel in the mouth. Melts almost instantly in your hands. Nice pop to the almonds.
Flavor: Very rich and sweet with a milky chocolate taste. Because of the richness its one of the few candy bars I can't eat in one sitting. Almonds definitely make the bar.
Calories: 380 cal/package. 2.6 oz.

Comments: Good very milky chocolate standard American chocolate bar that does great with the addition of almonds.

Bit-O-Honey

Day 2.
History: The Bit-O-Honey was invented in 1924 by the Shutter-Johnson company and has been owned by Nestle since 1984. (4,5)

Its hard to find the bar version nowadays but many places still sell the packaged bite sized pieces. The trick to the Bit-O-Honey is always feel the bar before you buy because when old they can get very hard but fresh ones are delicious and low in fat according to package but oh so high in sugar. Yumm!



Appearance: Light tan color. Bar is divided into segments and has small imperfections.
Aroma: Light honey and almond aroma.
Texture: Super chewy and smooth especially once you get going chewing on it.
Flavor: Nice mixture of honey with a little almond.
